Microblading Aftercare: First 14 Days to Protect Your Brows

North Palm Bay, Babcock Street commercial corridor | Microblading (150 to 190 minutes, $380)

The biggest rule for fresh microblading is simple: keep your brows dry for the first 24 to 48 hours, then follow a gentle cleanse and a thin layer of approved ointment while they heal. I’ve had clients tell me they trusted my work because their results “turned out so beautiful” after a retouch, and I want the same for your brows in Palm Bay. Aftercare is what protects the crisp strokes and true color you came in for.
Day 0 to 2: the 24 to 48 hours that make or break microblading
Right after your appointment, your brows are basically in “hands off” mode. I generally recommend you avoid touching them, rubbing them, or letting water hit them in the shower for the first 24 to 48 hours. No soap, no cleanser, no makeup on the brow area, unless I told you something different in your instructions.
Quick Palm Bay tip: Our heat and humidity make accidental sweating more likely. Try to plan these first two days away from outdoor errands, yard work, and long walks in the sun.
If you’re a shift worker or you commute through North Palm Bay on Babcock Street, keep a clean tissue in your bag so you can gently blot around the brows if you feel damp, but don’t wipe across the strokes. And skip anything that creates steam right now, like hot showers directly on your face.
This is also the window where people accidentally sabotage results by “just checking” them in the mirror and grazing the skin. Don’t do it. The pigment is settling, and the skin is closing.
Day 3 to 7: gentle cleansing, zero picking, and smart sweat control
Once you’re past that first 24 to 48 hour window, I generally have you start a simple routine: gently cleanse with a fragrance-free cleanser, pat completely dry, then apply a very thin layer of the aftercare ointment I recommend. Thin matters. Too much ointment can soften the scabs and pull pigment out before it settles.
Around this point you’ll usually see flaking. That’s normal. What’s not normal is picking. Picking is how you create patchy spots that weren’t there on day one.
Exercise in Palm Bay heat: keep it light for 7 to 10 days
I know it’s hard to pause workouts. But heavy sweating can push fluid through healing skin and fade the pigment faster. I generally recommend avoiding intense exercise, hot yoga, and anything that gets you dripping for at least 7 to 10 days. If you have to move, do gentle walks in the coolest part of the day and keep your face out of direct sun.
Real-life planning: If you’re traveling to Melbourne, Viera, Malabar, or West Melbourne for a weekend, try not to schedule microblading right before a beach day or a long outdoor event. Sun and sweat are the two biggest troublemakers in week one.
Day 8 to 14: protect the color, especially if you’re outdoors
During the second week, most people feel like they’re “fine” and want to go back to normal. This is where you stay steady. Keep cleansing gently, keep the brow area clean, and keep your hands off any remaining flakes.
Sun is a big deal in Palm Bay. Direct sun and tanning beds can shift and fade pigment while your skin is still healing. I generally recommend a hat anytime you’re outside. Once the skin is healed, sunscreen on and around the brow area helps the color stay true.
- Skip pools, saunas, hot tubs, and ocean water for a full 14 days.
- Avoid facials, peels, and aggressive exfoliation near the brows until you’re fully healed.
- Keep hair products, heavy skincare, and oils off the brow area while you’re healing.
“The healing process was exactly as explained, and I was given clear aftercare instructions which made a huge difference.”

Aftercare products that actually help (and what to leave in the drawer)
You don’t need a shelf full of products to heal well. You need the right basics, used consistently.
Stick with simple, fragrance-free, and thin layers
- Cleanser: gentle, fragrance-free cleanser, used lightly once you’re past the keep-dry window.
- Drying: pat dry fully, every time. Don’t air-dry with moisture sitting on the skin.
- Ointment: a thin layer of the aftercare ointment I recommend, used as directed for 7 to 14 days.
- Avoid: acids, retinol, heavy oils, and exfoliants near the brows until healed.
If you’re on the Babcock Street corridor and realize you’re missing something basic, I’m close by. It’s usually an easy stop to grab what you need or ask a quick question before a small issue becomes a big one.
When to text or call us, plus your 6 to 8 week touch-up plan
Some redness and mild tenderness right after microblading is normal. Light flaking is normal. What I don’t want you to ignore is anything that looks like it’s getting worse instead of better.
Reach out right away if you notice increasing redness, heat, swelling, or any pus. Don’t wait it out.
I take follow-up seriously. People come back to us because they feel cared for and comfortable, and because we’re attentive to the details. That matters with microblading.
And plan on your 6 to 8 week touch-up. That’s when I perfect the shape and color once your skin has fully healed. If you’re balancing family beach days, work shifts, and travel through Palm Bay, Melbourne, or Viera, book the touch-up window now so it doesn’t sneak up on you.
Quick note if you found me while searching “hair salon near me”: I get it. A lot of people discover us that way, then realize we’re also the place they can keep coming back to for brows, a haircut, or even a pedicure on another day.
